Representing Brookhaven College and the Dallas County Community College District, Jonna Ocampo
recently took part in the Community College Aerospace Scholars Program. She was the only student selected from the DCCCD
to attend the program and traveled to the Johnson Space Center for NASA training.
Each
community college district across Texas can nominate up to 10 students interested in the areas of computer science, engineering,
mathematics, and science to travel to NASA-JSC for the experience. For two days these students get to participate in
hands-on projects directed by NASA engineers.
Prior to traveling to Houston for the
two-day training at the Johnson Space Center, Ocampo committed to a semester of web-based interaction as preparation for the
program.
